Macugnaga is located almost at the extreme limit of Valle Anzasca, at the foot of the Monte Rosa and of its famous East Face.
It is the only location of Monte Rosa where it is possible to see the highest peak of the group directly from the village.

GEOGRAPHY
It is the most western Subalpine lakes, originated by the southern front of the Simplon glacier, located at the east of the Lake Maggiore separated by the Mottarone.
A dominating surrounding nature, between mountains and hills, offers a romantic and relaxing location, typical of the lake atmospheres.
The distance from the cities and from the smog is made also more evident by the green landscapes and the traditional towns and the architectures which characterize the lakeside villages and the villages in the near hills.
Omegna, a countercurrent river.
When Lake Orta, too often only the homonymous town overlooking the still water in front of the San Giulio Island is quoted. But the lake goes well further and arrives in Omegna, main city of Cusio.
It has been finished few years ago and is a gem of the touristic Pettenasco.
Less crowded than Orta but similar as regards charm and peace.
They belong to a more extended area called Northern Piedmont to which also Gattinara and Lessona belong.
Located in the north vis-à-vis Novara, in the central part of the province, it is enclosed between the Sesia river in the west and the Ticino river in the east.
